It has been nearly a year ago since I first began recognising symptoms that would result in the diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). I have been treated for the cancer and now wait for a liver transplant. I never dreamed that it would take this long. At the time it looked like I would have a new liver by Halloween and then my life would be back to normal. Well, I am still waiting along with thousands of others who need a gift. Please consider becoming an organ donor. I feel selfish as I am in need, but I would love to have a boring day at work. I miss living.

Donate Life

Scott I have never been so aware of the simple boxes you can check on your drivers license to become a donor.
I wish a liver were as easy to trade out as a kidney. You would have people lined up to share one of theirs.

I can't tell you enough how often you've been in my prayers and thoughts. I think my entire family has checked the box on being organ donors. And maybe more importantly, we've talked about it so we all know it's what we all really want. Every day I hope to hear the good news that you got your liver. I know there's one coming to you. I can't wait to take another class from you, so you just hang in there, okay?

Hi Scott,
I just found your blog and your web site - I love your work (epecially "Unbrella").
I've been a donor since I was 18 and also belong to a network called LifeSharers (http://lifesharers.com/).
While I hope that nothing happens to me that would make my liver available(!), if it does I know that someone else will live because of my decision. I encourage others to mark that little box on the license.
It's like buying insurance for someone else. :)

Scott, I'm a fellow illustrator and we have met 2 years ago at the SCBWI's winter conference in NY, I was an art buyer at the time and I got you a small project at Pearson a couple of months later. I always check your inspiring blog and have purchased your beautiful book at a local bookstore where I live in Solana Beach CA. Came to visit you blog. I love your digital paintings. I would love to learn more about painting digitally. I am sorry to hear that you have to go through cancer. I have never been through cancer myself, but my mom who is now an oncology nurse went through breast cancer. So I know a little about what tough things people have to go through. Best wishes. I hope you get your liver. Keep drawing when you can.
